Zephyr Lane Elementary rocked their Blue Zones Celebration! 

Students had a lunchtime full of fun, laughter, and healthy activities—thanks to the awesome Blue Zones team! From games to garden fun, they truly made wellness exciting.

Shirley Lane Elementary is officially a Blue Zones Approved School!

We celebrated with a fun-filled lunchtime event where students rotated through five exciting stations: gardening, volleyball, coloring, corn hole, and a bike-powered smoothie station.

Each activity encouraged movement, creativity, and healthy habits in an engaging and memorable way.

Our Saturday School students had an exciting adventure at Discovery Cube in Los Angeles! They explored hands-on exhibits in Sports Science, Physical Science, and Earth & Environment—learning through fun, discovery, and creativity. It was a day full of curiosity, smiles, and unforgettable experiences!

Our Fairfax Junior High ACES students had an awesome time visiting the Northeast Library this week! They participated in a STEAM activity and created their own "Tornado in a Jar."  Students had a blast learning how tornadoes form in nature—science has never been so fun!

The colorful bubbles and cool reactions had everyone captivated. It was hands-on learning at its best, and the students loved every minute of it! Thank you to the Northeast Library for hosting such an awesome event!

Saturday School Registration Opens 12/13 at 6PM

Greetings! Our Expanded Learning Department will be hosting another fun Saturday School series. Classes will take place on the Zephyr Lane campus beginning on Saturday, January 25th. Cafeteria opens at 7AM. Classes begin at 8AM. Dismissal times will be at 2PM and 4PM. Registration for classes will be available on Friday, December 13th at 6PM. Admin Message

As a lifelong resident of Bakersfield, I have dedicated my career to serving the students in the Fairfax  community. I began my journey with the Fairfax School District in 2002, teaching 6th grade at Fairfax School and 1st grade at Virginia Avenue Elementary. With a BA in Liberal Studies and a Master’s in Educational Leadership, I transitioned into administration in 2012. Now, as the administrator of Expanded Learning, I oversee the after-school program, sports, clubs, camps, summer school, migrant education, and achievers programs. My focus is on creating meaningful experiences that foster academic, social, and emotional development, ensuring we deliver high-quality, engaging programs that meet the needs of every student.
